“Grab your balls and pull her to the side and explain to her your side of the story.”
That was the text message I sent to my 11 year old (albeit he was about three feet in front of me, but surrounded by his friends, I was not going to embarrass him). It was the day of his promotion ceremony to 6th grade and we had linked up with some other moms and their children at the bowling alley for some... 
I’m all for independent career women and equal rights, equal pay, glass ceiling breaking etc, etc. And I definitely think it’s time that the U.S. elected a woman for president…I mean shit, machista Latin American countries like Costa Rica and Nicaragua have done it for crying out loud!
But seriously, I think that women are beginning to encroach on the male species and through dominance... 
Sometimes you win some…sometimes you get jack shit.
That’s life right? We’re not always recognized for our hard work, determination and perseverance. Nonetheless, I let my boys know that they have to work harder, stand out brighter, and demonstrate consistency. Because you know what? It’s not enough to be smart or astute in one or multiple subjects…no, that’s not... 
This week is a special week. Both of my boys are “graduating”, and while I’ve discussed the perverse nature of graduating from everything and anything now-a-days, I am, nonetheless, very proud of my boys and can’t help but to allow myself & get caught up in all the hoopla.
My 5th grader is graduating from elementary and moving on to middle school, which isn’t going to be much of a... 
Ok, so not for nothing, but my guys rarely ever get in trouble. It really is very rare that my boys are punished/grounded. They’re pretty well behaved for the most part, and when they do screw up, we deal with the situations in a more “diplomatic” way.
I have a male friend, who is childless at the moment, and is adamant that he will use corporal punishment when raising his children.... 
My son Chris had his first prom the other night. 8th grade prom. Yeah.
They didn’t have that shit when I was in middle school! But hey, times are a changin’ right?
Wrong!
It’s just another way to get us parents to spend more money and compete with each other to see who buys the best, most expensive dress/tux, etc, etc. I mean the whole idea was that senior prom was like this epic moment in your...

For some reason though, I always felt I wasn’t adequate enough to put my experiences as a mother out there to the public world; that I wasn’t an expert per se. But the truth is, none of us parents can claim to be experts in parenting; we learn as we go.

My journey into motherhood began when I was 17 years old. Today, I am the mother of two teen boys, 15 and 13, and I am one of the only moms "blogging" about raising teen boys. On this blog, which I like to call a "blogory", I share my candid, poignant, sometimes humorous, but always real, short stories about my stumbles through parenthood as a young mother raising two teen boys while coping with living in a house full of testosterone.
